Summer’s Almost Over, Start Having Some Fun

For Steve “Monty” Montgomery, the first half of the summer can go by in a flash. From getting the Starboard open, to Memorial Day weekend and the breakneck pace leading up to July Fourth which inevitably culminates with The Starboard’s main summer event, The Running of the Bull. This year’s festivities were particularly important, being the 20th Anniversary of the Bull Run.

Once the chaos of the fun has subsided, Montgomery feels a sense of peace. “There’s a lot of pressure to make the events great, keep our patrons safe, and to build upon the momentum we established in years past.” Montgomery explains. “People having a good time, and enjoying the uniqueness of Dewey Beach, it’s important to me and my staff, as well as the town.”

If there are sighs of relief to breathed, it’s because the success of another year has come and gone, and the days of easy living are upon us. Summer’s almost over, so Montgomery and his partners want everyone to start having fun!

The Starboard is hot spot to enjoy cool drinks in the summer months, but there are also lots of great things going on at their other locations. Both Bethany Blues locations boast amazing barbecue, refreshing bourbon cocktails, and the laid back atmosphere to get you in a state of ease. Check out the new patio at the Lewes location, where they are hosting a monthly happy hour for dogs.

If you’re feeling fancy, 99 Sea Level and the culinary ingenuity of Chef Danio Somoza will please your senses. Located right on the boardwalk in Bethany Beach, you can sit at the bar and take in ocean views as you enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the town. And of course there is the newest incarnation, Starboard Raw, located right across the street from The Starboard in Dewey Beach, serving up Baltimore-style steamed shrimp, loads of fresh oysters, and an amazing amount of craft beers and cocktails.

With so many dining options, there is something for everyone this summer at one of the five locations from the partners that brought you The Starboard Restaurant. Pop in, say hello, have a drink and stay for dinner. Because the summer will be gone in the blink of an eye!
