05 Mar Opening Weekend 2019!

When it comes to opening Dewey Beach for business, The Starboard sets the bar with their annual world famous, action-packed four day weekend, as several Dewey businesses follow suit to unofficially re-open the town for the 2019 summer season. Culminating with Saint Patrick’s Day, the entire affair begins on Thursday, March 14th, and will be a weekend to remember…or not remember, as it were.

Truly the 4th biggest holiday weekend in the small, beach town, Steve “Monty” Montgomery, owner of the Starboard, and his staff are kicking off the festivities with a Chamber of Commerce Happy Hour on Thursday, from 5-7PM, and then from 8-11PM, they welcome The Amish Outlaws for a free concert.

“Since it’s a Thursday,” Montgomery says, “I thought, let’s move the time to 8PM—make it a bit of an earlier show—so that everyone can come out and enjoy the band and celebrate the start of the season.” Montgomery is excited to see the local crowd out in force that weekend to enjoy themselves before the bustle of the summer season.

And as for the rest of the weekend? Well, the party never really stops at The Starboard, does it? In addition to the regular DJs and entertainment, Kristen and Johnny Phatt will have the tented parking lot rocking all afternoon Saturday and Sunday. For Saint Patrick’s Day, La Unica from the Washington, D.C. area will kick off the action with their 12-3PM show featuring a wide variety of Irish rock and familiar covers. The Starboard also welcomes Bryen O’Boyle, of Mr. Greengenes and Just the Tip fame, with his full band to entertain the masses from 4PM-7PM.

It’s been a long, rainy winter, and The Starboard is ready to throw open the windows and let some light in! The Starboard’s Opening Weekend is the perfect time to get out of the house, break out your flip flops, and get the 2019 season rolling! Montgomery and his crew are ready to provide you with as much entertainment as they can jam into one, stellar weekend, and they want you to come and enjoy the party with them!
