The final ‘Spring Training’ weekend has landed… our final chance to tune up for the HUGE Memorial Day week about to slap us all in the face. I’ve been around for a ridiculous number of years here at The Starboard, and I swear every single year I am amazed at how crazy Memorial Day Weekend is! Hopefully many of you diehard Starboard customers can make it down this weekend for what is one of the best weekends of the year! The weekend before Memorial Day and weekend just after Labor Day are always great ones to really enjoy the beach, The Starboard, and all of the businesses here that are now all open! Weather looks superb, jump in the car and come on down! If that is not enough to entice you…. this Saturday at 6pm I read is JUDGEMENT DAY… the paper says the world will come to an end with rolling earthquakes in each time zone…. I mean… if this is true, wouldn’t we all prefer to watch it come to an end from the deck of the Starboard with a strong Grapefruit Crush in our hands???
Those of you from Baltimore that still do not have your 2011 Starboard VIP card have a chance to grab one tonight… that is unless you come to Dewey where you can grab one from any of our bar staff. Portside Tavern got one of the last boxes of cards left to distribute tonight so you can be prepared for next weekend madness. Steve Roop of Portside is putting his old self back behind the bar for a night, be sure to stop in, give him a hard time for me…. and grab your 2011 VIP Card! Many of you know Steve, he and I bartended together as young bucks back in the day at The Bottom Line in Washington, he spent many summers here at The Starboard, and is now doing very well with Portside in into its 6th year of business there just off Canton Square.
Steve will have VIP cards readily available beginning at 7pm tonight at Portside, and more than likely out of stock before 10pm, hope you can swing
by for a cold one!
For the past 8 days The Starboard has been packed to capacity while our friends from Loyola College in Baltimore have spent the week in Dewey celebrating their upcoming Graduation. We wish them all the best of luck and thank all the Loyola grads for not only having so much fun all week, but for being such great people…our staff cannot say enough good things about the great individuals Loyola College sends to Dewey Beach!
This past weekend with LauraLea here on Saturday night, for the first time I can ever remember in the middle of MAY, we had a line to get in this place wrapped down the street. The town felt like Mid-July! I think we are all excited for a fantastic summer and truly believe summer 2011 will be a great one for all here in Dewey Beach! Thanks for your support and we all look forward to taking as good of care as you as we can here at The Starboard all season long!
See you this weekend… we hope!
We take fundraising for Breast Cancer research very seriously at The Starboard, as we are all affected in one way or another, either personally, or through relatives or close friends that have to deal with this awful disease. I am very happy to report that our 21st Annual Starboard Golf Extravaganza last week raised $3500 to donate to our local Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition. We do several Breast Cancer fundraisers over the course of the summer, and appreciate everyone’s support. This fall we will introduce our first annual 5K race on Saturday, October 8th. This will be the DEWEY DOES PINK 5K hosted by your own… THE STARBOARD! Not only a 5K, a great cause, but a heck of a post party in our parking lot including Pig Roast and live music.
