This weekend marks the end of our normal summer weekends...with the big Labor Day Weekend all that is left after this. Many of you were talking with me about your "Winter Houses" this past weekend, and I hope you all have luck in that a winter house if extremely affordable. If you come to The Starboard for a few Fall weekends, our closing weekend, our anniversary weekend, New Years, and opening weekend, then it is well worth the expense of a Winter House to use and enjoy for all of these major offseason events!

When it rains...The Starboard Pours...that is a fact. Well looks like we are in for the perfect Starboard weekend, with Hurricane/Tropical Storm Danny heading directly this way for Saturday afternoon. This storm has just developed over the past day or so, too early to know how much it will build, but is certainly going to be joining us for the weekend. So bring your best effort this weekend, cause there is nothing more fun than a Hurricane Party at The Starboard!!

This weekend we have the former drummer from LauraLea & Tripp Fabulous, John Kelly & friends, doing acoustic from 2-5:30pm on our deck Saturday afternoon while you guys enjoy beer pong, grapefruit crushes, bloody mary's etc...then Suicide Sunday, our regular deck party continues with Doug Segree from 2-6pm. That's it, only daytime live music this weekend, but we will have LauraLea back in a week for Sunday Night of Labor Day weekend, then Mavi Trio to close out the summer on Labor Day Monday night!!

Tickets are selling quickly for our October 3rd Black Tie event to celebrate 50 incredible years at The Starboard! This is going to be a one-time huge blowout done completely top notch. We will tent off the parking lot, roll out the red carpeting, bring in plenty of lighting and special effects, have a piano early in the evening, plenty of incredible food provided by Big Fish Grill, then LauraLea & Tripp Fabulous to end the night. DJ John Hardy of 27 years here will be the Grand Marshal of the evening, and every week I get emails from more and more former staff that will make a trip back to Dewey Beach for this big weekend.
Tickets are on sale now for $100 which includes all the food, beer, wine, and champagne, along with plenty of gifts commemorating our 50 years. We are working on a documentary to give out with interviews and film of Starboard history, as well as a nice booklet of articles and pictures from our 50 years!
We do not want to overcrowd this event so tickets will more than likely run out. You can purchase here online, or at our Shark Shack gift shop over the next few weekends! Several hotels will be offering package deals as well for this weekend, the Atlantic Oceanside as well as Sea Esta have both told me they will have deals for this weekend for all Starboard customers....with late check outs on Sunday!

Beginning Saturday, September 19th, our Front Page Restaurant in Arlington will welcome Jefe from Burnt Sienna to the stage each and every Saturday night for the entire winter. He has a few weddings which he will re-join Burnt Sienna for, otherwise will be out on his own performing live at The Front Page. This will be a great spot to gather up and meet with all your Dewey Beach friends throughout the winter! Don't worry, Jefe will still be in Dewey Beach next summer at his normal spots, but this will give you a chance to keep a little Dewey Beach in your life during the winter months for those of you that live in Arlington!

I was fortunate enough this week to do a few live segments on Fox News Philly as they wanted some info on what makes Dewey Beach so great. We did segments on our World Famous Bloody Mary Bar, Grapefruit & Orange Crushes, The Running of the Bull, and just how great this beach town is with all of its nightlife, just 2 blocks wide & nestled between the Ocean and the Bay. I am sure any of you in Philly on your way to work at 7am were in shock to see my face holding a nice Starboard bloody mary coming across your TV set...probably made for a long work day thinking of Dewey!

Each year, Dewey Beach holds an election in late September. This year the election is Saturday, September 19th. It is important that we get all of you that own property & love Dewey Beach for what it is today to vote. I am happy to give you my perspective from a local business owner on who I would like to see get your votes, if you care for my view, feel free to email me at Monty@TheStarboard.com. Last week I received over 60 emails from many of you asking who to vote for, and I appreciate your trust in my perspective.

Have a great week back at work. Dewey has gotten pretty quiet this week...it is obvious that most vacations are over with and kids are back at school. This coming weekend should be great with some reduced crowds, then the final big blowout next weekend with Labor Day. Be safe and everyone here at The Starboard thanks you all for our most successful summer ever! Hope you can make the 50th celebration as The Starboard is a huge part of Dewey Beach history, so we all look forward to spending that weekend in October with so many former employees and fans of The Starboard!
